The courses offered in the Department are at Artisan, Craft Certificate and Diploma level. The courses are examined by Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) . The Institute is a registered Examination centre for the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) for Motor Vehicle Mechanics Grade Tests which are done in the Department. We cater for Students who wish to pursue their courses in regular, part – time  programs. The Department has a well-equipped workshop.

  • Welding and fabrication- Entry requirement is KCSE D plain (KNEC)
  • Motor Vehicle mechanics- Entry requirement is KCSE D+ (KNEC)
  • Electrical installation- Entry requirement is KCSE D+ (KNEC)
  • Masonry- Entry requirement is KCSE D Plain (KNEC)
  • Plumbing- Entry requirement is KCSE D Plain (KNEC)
  • Mechanical craft and fitting is KCSE D+  (KNEC)

The Lecturers in the Department are professionally qualified to handle the automotive  engineering program which is a Competence Based Curriculum/Training (CBET) in conformity with the expectations of the Industry. The Department has a bright future and can effectively provide the training service in Automotive Engineering. The department has better linkages with the Industries and therefore our students easily get Industrial attachments and job opportunities.
